While we were doing the OW-JOL, the new building of the Command and Staff College, Quetta had just been inaugurated and was opened to the officers doing course in Quetta. We paid 50 Paisa to visit the newly constructed mega structure and were really over awed by its grandeur and hoped to one day walk into it as students.  The day soon arrived with Nadir Mir being the first from our course mates attending the prestigious Staff Course. Thereafter, many of us kept pouring in for next two-three years to attend the course. Upon promotion to Lieutenant Colonel, some of us even served a tenure on the faculty of the college. Herein under are photos of some of us attending the Staff Course: Janjua - 1991 Staff Course A hearty group: Tariq Sher, Rauf, Alamgir, Javed and Javed Rauf Visiting some organization during the trip

Days Without - SI and T

Quetta is a well known military station for all arms and services of the Pakistan Army and Air Force as well. We thronged the roads of Quetta as young lieutenants when we as a whole course went to attend the OW-8 and JOL-8 at SI&T.  I do not have many photos of the time, but was lucky to get a few from Tariq Khan's photo albums from his Facebook page and also a memorable photo of some of the dashing lieutenants wearing bell-bottom trousers on a trip to Hana Lake, shared by Arshad.  Can you guess who all are there and who is looking the funnier?   Bayonet Fighting - Tariq Khan flies and scores a bull hit Tariq Khan bagged the  Bayonet Fighting trophy but t he commandant refused to give him the shield since an armour officer in black was not supposed to win. The deputy commandant gave the trophy. This is all I have as afar School of Infantry and Tactics, OWJOL-8 and us. I would request others to share any photos and memories with me to add more pictorial cov...

1 - Yarmuk

The most toughest period of the first time was Exercise Yarmuk - a five days long sojourn up and down the hills around Abbotabad. Our course went to general area Kot Najib Ullah. We were taken in PMA buses up to Havelian and then for five days we were on our own - of course closely monitored by our platoon commanders.  Dead tried soldiers after reaching Kot Najib Ulla for a night's stay Scroll down till the end for more photos shared by Jamal Zia Pitching tent for the night - K-4  Khalid - 4 at Kot Najibullah RS with Captain Ghulam Nabi Khalid 4 under Captain Ghulam Nabi scaled mountains around Kot Najib Ullah. At one point, GC Zafar (later withdrawn after first term) fell sick or pretended to and laid down and refused to walk. GC Jalal volunteered to carry his big pack ( in addition to his own) till some pint where he could be off-loaded into transport, while the platoon marched off. We too crumbled forward, specially GC Jalal under heavy load, when suddenly we stopped...
